Activities for for children, teenagers, and career starters

This year, in addition to tried-and-tested classics such as the research rally, there will be even more activities tailored specifically to young people. By the way, there will be a mascot on hand to pose for photos with visitors of all ages and keep everyone in good spirits: “Dr. JuFox”.

Brochure for children and teenagers

A new brochure, divided into three age groups, recommends activities for children and young people from all institutes and divisions. This means that planning an age-appropriate route across the campus on Open Day is child’s play. The brochure will be available at the information stands on Open Day or can be downloaded here:

Research rally

It’s as much a part of Open Day as the chips from the food stalls: the research rally for children and young people aged 6 to 14.The meeting point is the research rally stand on the Helmholtz-Ring road. It is located in front of the Central Library building (building 04.7). The questionnaires for the research rally are handed out there. To take part in the prize draw, participants must hand in their completed questionnaires at either the research rally stand, the information stands, or the merchandise stand by 17:00 on 7 September.There are great prizes to be won again this year, including a telescope, experiment kits, games, and books.

Future-Me-Check

What are the big questions burning in the minds of young people? And where can they find answers and perspectives for themselves? These questions are answered by the Future Me Check, which has been specially programmed for the Open Day. Here's how it works: Young people aged 15 and over answer three questions. After a few clicks, they receive their personal profile. This opens up career prospects in Science. Anyone who is interested can then come to the Open Day, receive a themed wristband, and set off into the world of research – always following their own interests.

Let off steam

Visitors looking to burn off some energy won’t want to miss the Sports Association’s obstacle course, which offers something for everyone – whether it’s throwing cans, competing in sack races, crawling through tunnels, or riding hobby horses. There’s also a seesaw, spinning tops, a play parachute, and large foam blocks, so it’s the ideal place to blow off some steam! Where? Grassy area in front of building 16.15 (near the JSC building)
